    Independence Day celebrations to be held throughout area

    The United States of America’s Independence Day will be celebrated in communities throughout the Sawyer County area July 2-7. The line-up of fireworks shows and other activities is as follows:

    Tuesday, July 2

    Fireworks at dusk at The Landing Resort on the Chippewa Flowage.

    Wednesday, July 3

    Round Lake: Fireworks at dusk, Richardson Bay, come by boat or car.

    Lost Land Lake: Bean bag tournament at Reel Livin’ Resort, 12-3 p.m.; live music 5-9 p.m., fireworks at dusk.

    Birchwood: Fireworks at dusk, Birch Lakes Resort.

    Nelson Lake: Fireworks at dusk, Revelle’s Resort.

    Exeland: Community picnic, 5 p.m. at Rod and Gun Club pavilion, fireworks at dusk.

    Thursday, July 4

    Winter: July Jubilee on Main Street and in Doc Smith Park. Parade at 11 a.m. with Astronaut Jeff Williams as grand marshal; craft and food vendors, kids’ games, inflatables, live music, pie socials, community competitions, fireworks at dusk.

    Cable: Red, White and Blue pancake breakfast at Community Centre; CARE 5K and 10K run-walk; downtown parade at 11 a.m.; Lions Club picnic, noon-2 p.m. and fireworks at dusk at Cable Ball Park.

    Hayward: Civic Club picnic, 5 p.m. at field behind intermediate school; kids games; Hayward Hawks vs. Spooner Cardinals baseball game, 7 p.m.; fireworks at dusk.

    Chippewa Flowage: Fireworks at dusk, Chief lake Bar and Grill.

    Lac Courte Oreilles: Fireworks at dusk, Sevenwinds Casino.

    Moose Lake: Fireworks at 9:30 p.m., Louie’s Landing.

    Nelson Lake: Fireworks at dusk, Nelson Lake Landing, bring a chair.

    Stone Lake: Fireworks at dusk, Lions Park.

    Friday, July 5

    Downtown Hayward Summer Jam, Second Street between Dakota Avenue and Main Street, live music and family-friendly entertainment, 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m.; food and beverages by Hayward Lions Club.

    Saturday, July 6

    Boulder Lodge on Ghost Lake: Two-person teams compete in a cardboard boat race to benefit the Northwoods Humane Society. Boats must be built with three items only: Cardboard, duct tape, and latex paint. Paddles are allowed. All participants must wear a PFD (personal floatation device). Raffles, food and refreshments starting at 12:30 p.m. Race begins at 2 p.m.

    Clam Lake: Community Club, fireworks start at dusk.

    Lakewoods Resort, Cable: Namapaloooza Music Festival, two acts beginning at 4 pm. Food and drinks, fireworks at dusk.

    Sunday, July 7

    Wild Rivers Squadron of Civil Air Patrol fly-in, drive-in pancake breakfast at Sawyer County Airport, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
