    Hayward harriers to host races at Hwy. 00

    The Hayward Hurricanes cross-country team will host their annual invitational meet Thursday Oct. 3 on the Birkebeiner Trail, starting and finishing at the Kortelopet trailhead off Highway 00 east of Seeley.

    The visiting teams will be Barron, Bayfield, Birchwood, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, Ladysmith, Spooner, Superior and Washburn. The meet kicks off with the middle school race at 4 p.m.

    On Tuesday Sept. 24, the Hurricane boys took first place and the girls took third at the 10-school Barron Invitational.

    Team scores: Hayward 49, Cameron 93, Shell Lake 102, Glenwood City 107, Cumberland 138, Spooner 146, Baldwin-Woodville 157, Bloomer 160, Prairie Farm 212, St. Croix Falls 268.
