Four running for Hayward Musky Festival queen
Four area young women are running for queen of the 2024 Hayward Musky Festival. The Musky Queen Scholarship Program is presented by Hayward Dairy Queen. The candidates will participate in interviews with the judges at a luncheon on Thursday, June 20, at Holiday Inn Express. Free airplane rides offered at Hayward airport
Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 631 will give free airplane rides for young people ages 8 through 17 at the Hayward/Sawyer County Airport from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, weather permitting. . Canes boys golfers finish season at sectional
The Hayward Hurricanes boys golf team placed seventh in the WIAA Division Two sectional meet at Turtleback in Rice Lake Tuesday May 28. The top two teams at the sectional who advanced to the state meet were Lakeland Union with a score of 316, and Amery with 322. Prescott finished one stroke back at 323, followed by Bloomer 332, Baldwin-Woodville 333, Rice Lake 333, Northland Pines 335, Hayward 347, Osceola 350, Altoona 359, Elk Mound-Colfax 363 and West Salem 374. Prescott’s Tyler Reiter was the sectional medalist with 1-over-par 72. Also advancing to state as individuals were Chase Van Ranst of Baldwin-Woodville with a 73 and Ben Vande Vert of Rice Lake with a 73. Hansen's second place leads Hurricane track squad at state
Hayward Hurricanes sophomore Lucas Hansen took second place in the boys 300-meter intermediate hurdles to highlight the Hurricane team’s participation in the WIAA Division Two state track and field championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse May 31-June 1.
