SAYREVILLE, NJ -- The Sayreville Farmers Market will return to War Memorial Park near St. Stan's on Thursday, July 18, from noon until 6:00 p.m. The borough hosts this weekly market every Thursday , so residents can meet local farmers and other food vendors.

One of those vendors is the Dominican Food Truck , owned by Marcel Rodriguez of Somerset, NJ. The Dominican Food Truck offers authentic Caribbean meals made fresh. The menu includes items such as Empanadas, Picaderas, Chimi, Pica Longa, Pica Pollo, and Yaroa, as well as other options for sandwiches and desserts.

"There's a certain way you make Spanish food where you have to prepare it before you cook it," said Rodriguez. "Before you actually cook it, you have  to set it up and prepare it, so the seasoning can hold, and the flavors can hold. It's completely fresh."

After working on his truck for over a year and a half to turn it into a Spanish kitchen, Rodriguez officially opened for business on Feb. 27, 2024.

"It was very hard to figure out exactly where things needed to go, so they could keep the food culturally fresh and done appropriately," said Rodriguez. "Everything has to be made fresh, so you can't really have too much stuff moving around in the truck."

When not attending the Sayreville Farmers Market, the Dominican Food Truck can be found on either 657 Hamilton St. in Somerset, or on Sandford St. in New Brunswick.
