SARTELL — A 57-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday after robbing a convenience store in Sartell.

The man on Sunday morning robbed the BP convenience store at the corner of First Street Northeast and Benton Drive in Sartell, according to a Sartell Police Department release.

A store employee was threatened with a knife by the suspect and was forced to hand over $1,000.

While the suspect was deliberate about masking his face and his vehicle license plates, officers were able to identify him from a previous incident.

The Sartell Police Department shared the information with surrounding law enforcement agencies, and the Sauk Rapids Police Department discovered the suspect at a convenience store in its community.

The suspect was purchasing pull tabs from the store when he was arrested by Sauk Rapids officers. He is being held at the Benton County Jail.
