    Hononegah girls track team second in Schaumburg meet

    SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Hononegah’s girls track team collected four first places on it way to a second-place finish in the team standings at the Mike Rebeck Girls Invitational at Schaumburg High School.

    The Indians’ Kylie Simpson finished first in the 3200 meters in 11:45.02 and Sophia Hedges won the long jump (5.31 meters). They both ran a leg of the first-place 4x400 relay (4:09.22) that included Jordan Dimke and Ashlyn Richter.

    Hononegah’s fourth first place came from Amelia Bronnimann in the pole vault (2.92 meters).

    Dimke was busy, taking second place in the high jump (1.62 meters) and third in the 800 (2:23.94).

    The Indians picked up second in the 4x800 with the quartet of Lauren Frake, Layla Buckley, Chidiuto Ezeani and Keila Borges Aragon finishing in 10:26.97.

    Hononegah’s 4x100 relay team of Richter, Mikalya Mowers, Kali Schleis and Hodges finished fourth in 53.15 and the 4x200 team of Ava Schaumburg, Chidiuto Ezeani, Hailey Underwood and Kali Schleis was fourth in 1:57.00.

    Emma Krenz finished second in the pole vault (2.74 meters) and Schleis was third in the long jump (4.97).

    Frake was fifth in the 400 (1:04.04) and Amelia Bronnimann was fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.14 seconds). Allyson Niedfeldt finished sixth in the 800 (2:30.44) and the 1600 (5:30.96). Isabelle Molitor was sixth in the 3200 (12:16.52) and Ezeani was sixth in the high jump (1.37 meters).

    The Indians had 106 points to finish behind only Schaumburg (111). Chicago St. Ignatious was third with 101, with Dundee-Crown (83) and Elmhurst York (75) rounding out the top five.
