    Schaumburg man charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting tree trimmer

    SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — A Schaumburg man has been charged for allegedly shooting a tree trimmer working at his residence on Wednesday.

    Michael Lang, 55, is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

    Officers responded to the 800 block of South Braintree Drive on the report of a shooting at around 2:50 Wednesday.

    A 66-year-old man, of Hanover Park, working as a tree trimmer for Lang, was found laying in the front yard suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported in critical condition and was stabilized, according to the Chicago Sun-Times .

    Police allege Lang began yelling at the victim and his three co-workers to leave after accusing them of making too much noise.

    “I told you to leave or one of you is going to die,” Lang allegedly said, according to court documents.

    The workers were in the process of gathering equipment when the worker was shot, according to police.

    A SWAT situation then occurred until around 9:20 p.m.

    According to court documents, during a 911 call — Lang said that “someone keeps sending him messages from outer space.”

    Lang’s initial hearing is scheduled for Friday in Rolling Meadows.
