Tony Maci will take over as head coach of Union College's women's hockey team the school announced today. Maci fills the void left by former head coach Josh Sciba who was hired as an assistant coach with PWHL New York .

"I'm extremely thankful and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the Union College women's hockey program," Maci said in a Union news release .

"Throughout this whole process I kept hearing the same thing about Union College and the campus community, and that was there are great people here. That is something I want to be a part of."

"We are very happy to welcome someone with Tony's experience to Union as our next head women's hockey coach," Director of Athletics Jim McLaughlin said of the hiring. "His focus on the overall experience and support of student-athletes came through clearly during the interview process. As our program continues to develop and improve, Tony's track record of success will be an incredible benefit to our players and what they look to achieve both on and off the ice. It is a very exciting time for our women's hockey program and I look forward to seeing Tony behind the bench this season."

Maci has been a member of Clarkson's women's hockey coaching staff the last eight seasons serving as an assistant. Prior to that, he spent one season at Princeton and three seasons as an assistant coach at Adrian College in NCAA DIII hockey. He has head coaching experience at the boys 16U level in Michigan with Victory Honda.

Maci played NCAA hockey himself graduating from St. Lawrence University. He hopes to continue the growth Union has experienced in recent seasons.

"We are going to be a group that works hard both on and off the ice, as well as in the community," continued Maci. "We will put a premium on player development first so that we can play an exciting skilled brand of hockey, while working hard as exceptional student-athletes in the classroom."
