Last week, Iowa State University (ISU) closed its DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) office in order to adhere to state mandates. The decision was made in response to recent directives from the Iowa Board of Regents and state lawmakers, which aimed to cut down on spending for DEI initiatives at public universities in Iowa.

Haidyn Suhr Wins Supreme Overall Market Animal at the Cass County Fair Beef Show
(Atlantic) Haidyn Suhr, of the Grant Guys and Gals’s 4H Club and the daughter of Shane and Kaycee Suhr, showed the overall Supreme Market Animal at the Cass County Fair Beef Show on Monday evening. Her steer, “Ricky Bobby,” weighed 1,410 pounds. Suhr, who is 11 years old, returned to the Cass County Fair Show ring after finishing runner-up one year ago.

NW Iowa Woman Injured in One Vehicle Crash
–A Northwest Iowa woman suffered minor injuries following a one-vehicle accident just west of Algona Friday morning. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, 23-year-old Devan Faye Demory of Hartley was driving westbound on County Road B40 in a 2018 Ford Explorer just before 10:30 AM Friday. As Demory was approaching the intersection with 80th Avenue, her vehicle took a hard left and went down into the south ditch.
Remembering longtime UNMC pharmacist Dr. James Dubé
James Dubé, PharmD, a retired specialist in chronic pain management, died July 24. He was 87. Dubé spent 34 years at UNMC, including 17 years as director of pharmacy. He was in high demand as a specialist in chronic pain management and made presentations on that topic to health professionals in 43 states.
