June 2024 Review, The Month Had Some Sizzle and a Few Severe Storms Too
June 2024 was hot, although with the exception of the week of the 17th, the warmth was more subtle in nature and not so much in your face as it was during the week of the 17th when the season's first heat wave occurred. And it was the heat wave from the 18th through the 20th that was June's big highlight with three consecutive days at Albany coming in with high temperatures into the mid 90s, which coupled with high dewpoints in the 70s, pushed peak heat indices into the low 100's on each of the three days. And in fact on the 19th, those low 100 degree heat indices persisted in the Capital Region for a remarkable 5-6 consecutive hours, which was of unusually long duration for the local area.
