SCHRIEVER, La. ( WGNO ) — A Texas man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened in Schriever on July 9.

According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shooting that was reported in the 300 block of Patrick Drive around 6 a.m.

Upon arrival, TPSO deputies said “signs of a shootout” were discovered that suggested that the victim was allegedly ambushed by a shooter, identified by the victim as 45-year-old Keith David Joseph, as he was leaving for work.

TPSO deputies said they found evidence of a “history of violent acts against the victim and family, believed to be committed by Joseph in recent months.”

Deputies said they were initially unable to find Joseph, despite the area being “saturated” with deputies.

After investigating further, deputies allegedly found evidence that linked Joseph to the shooting and obtained warrants for his arrest.

TPSO investigators said they later discovered that Joseph had been taken into custody in Houston, Texas, for the warrants in Terrebonne Parish. Joseph was extradited back to Terrebonne Parish on July 22 to face charges for his alleged crimes.

Joseph was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and violation of a protective order. He was jailed on a $200,500 bond set by local judges.
