In March, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency decreed a cut to sterilization chemical ethylene oxide, calling it "one of the most potent cancer-causing chemicals." Eliminating its use, however, isn't so simple. Med-tech companies deploy the chemical often when cleaning their inventions and equipment before they make it to medical professionals and patients. State trade group Medical Alley, immediately responded to the ruling with concern about how this would hamper Minnesota's many med-tech businesses.
