Residents displaced after severe thunderstorm damages mobile home park
MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Several people who live in a Schuyler County mobile home park were displaced after severe storms ripped through the Twin Tiers Monday evening. "The house literally shook," said Bart Curtis, a resident of Rock Cabin Park who was displaced by the storm. "When I heard glass breaking, I knew something was not quite right. When I went to look, I couldn't get out the front door, and I couldn't get out the side door."
Thousands lose power in Southern Tier during storms
SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WETM) — More than 28,000 NYSEG customers across Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties lost power on Monday evening during severe storms. Central New York Braces For Intense Heat And Humidity
The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a heat advisory for several Central New York counties. This advisory goes into affect Noon July 15th, and runs through 8PM July 16th. It includes the following counties: Yates, Seneca, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison, Southern Oneida, Tioga, Broome, and Sullivan. During this period, heat index values are expected to reach up to 95 degrees, posing significant health risks due to the combination of high temperatures and humidity.
