Corvallis man facing assault charges for allegedly attacking man with garden shears
CORVALLIS, Ore. – A Corvallis man is facing charges of assault after allegedly using gardening shears to attack a person, according to court records. According to documents filed with the Benton County Circuit Court, on July 15, Luke Thomas Ludwig, 38, was charged with several crimes including second-degree assault. Court documents allege that Ludwig had used gardening shears to physically injure another man in an incident on July 13. Court records also allege that Ludwig had attacked a woman on July 3, although those records make no mention of gardening shears or any other deadly weapon.

City of Salem doing away with cut off warning notices before disconnection of city services
The City of Salem is dropping two warning notices before city utility services are cut off to delinquent customers. Effective with the July billing cycle, customers will only receive a notice upon disconnection seven days after their bill becomes delinquent. The notice will inform them of the fees and interruption of services. Two other warnings will be eliminated. One that used to be issued seven days after a bill becomes delinquent giving customers another seven days to pay along with a notice placed on the door the day before disconnection is scheduled.
