MONROE, NJ — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders Select 10U triumphed in the Monroe Township Make-A-Wish Tournament 2024, showcasing their prowess with three consecutive victories.
In their first game against Cranford Gold 10U, the Raiders overcame an early deficit to win 8-5. Ryan Moquin's hit helped tie the game in the third inning, and Connor Mulroy's double in the fourth gave them the lead. Nicky Ruggieri's triple in the fifth inning drove in three crucial runs, as Dean Licciardone and Mark Daniel secured the win on the mound for the Raiders. Andrew Adams had a key defensive play with a diving catch in right field in the first inning, and Ryan Talbot had a timely hit and two stolen bases.
The boys’ second game against Manalapan Braves 10U Blue ended dramatically with a 7-6 walk-off victory. Ryan Moquin, Abel Ball, Dom Rauseo and Jack Parker contributed with key hits, and Abel Ball and Will Upton excelled on the mound, earning the Raiders the win.
In the championship game against Edison Baseball 10U, SPF Raiders staged an impressive comeback from a 6-0 deficit to win 8-7. Dean Licciardone and Will Upton had strong relief performances, with Mark Daniel starting the game. The Raiders were supported by key hits from Connor Mulroy, Jack Parker, Nicky Ruggieri, Dom Rauseo and Jack Maver.
Throughout the tournament, the SPF Raiders displayed resilience and teamwork, highlighted by their ability to rally and perform under pressure. Their collective effort secured them the championship title.
