From Makanda, Ill. to Belgium: One Notre Dame student and her dog’s journey to the World Agility Championships
MAKANDA, Ill. (KFVS) - With every bark, jump, and weave, a Notre Dame student and her dog get closer to their achieving their dream. Lauren Ecker lives in Makanda, Illinois, and is a junior at Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau. Ecker and her dog Scout, an Australian Shepherd-Poodle Mix, are headed to Belgium on Sunday, July 14 to compete at the Junior World Agility Championships.
Almost Yesterday: Cape Girardeau Municipal Band Begins
It seems like Almost Yesterday that a group of young men in Cape Girardeau, Missouri decided to start a band. Under the leadership of Captain C. F. Schuchert, twelve young men who were musically inclined – and had instruments - came together and became a popular group, performing at parades, picnics and public events. In their first years they were identified as “Schuchert’s Cornet Band.”
