“The overflowing be crazy to where…it be so crazy to where the dumpster people don’t want to pick it up,” Conley said. “Our house is kind of closer to the dumpster so we pretty much smell everything everybody throwing away…if I would’ve known that I would’ve never put my trailer here.”

Another resident, who chooses to remain anonymous, says they have also lived in Potpourri Village for three years. he says he feels like the complex are not listening to their residents.

“Enough is enough bro,” they said. “We pay enough back here and we can’t even do nothing. It’s hot, we can’t even get in the pool right now. Our car break down, we can’t even work on it in the yard or none of that. It’s just making some things impossible.”

The property owners of Potpourri Village said the increase of trash comes from people who do not reside in the complex.

“Ownership is disappointed and frustrated that illegal dumping is taking place and hopes to resolve this issue in a timely manner,” Potpourri Village co-owner Kris Hodges said, in a statement released to News 10. “Stanley understands their residents’ frustrations and has asked for patience while we resolve this issue.”

Hodges said the park is in the process of bringing individual garbage bins to each home in the complex in hopes of stopping the illegal dumping from outsiders.

Same thing in the WestEnd of New Iberia. It takes 3-4 weeks for Pelicans Waste Disposal to pick up yard waste.
