    Scottsboro to host 51st annual Art Sunday this September

    SCOTTSBORO, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Scottsboro Three Arts Club is set to host its annual Art Sunday showcasing more than 80 artists and craftsmen this September.

    Art Sunday is a day when artists participate in a judged show. The artists offer their artwork and crafts for sale for the event to fund the Scottsboro Three Arts Club.

    On Sunday, September 1, Scottsboro Three Arts Club will host its 51st annual Art Sunday. The event features artists and emerging artists from north Alabama and southern Tennessee. Attendees will get the chance to shop the artwork between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

    The festival will continue through rain or shine. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for school-age students and free for children five and under. Entry is also free for guests who wear the 2024 Art Sunday t-shirt and those with a military ID.

    Along with the artwork and crafts at the event, there will be live music, activities for kids, photography contests, food and beverage vendors and so much more.

    For kids, there will be activity spots stationed throughout the park. There will be balloon art, hair tinsel, woodworking with Home Depot as well as Love Luggage with Unclaimed Baggage. These events will be located in purple tents.

    If attendees want a break from shopping, they can go listen to live music and enjoy performances by local singers, dancers and musicians. The entertainment stage will be located near the back of the park close to the food vendors.

    The photography contest is offered for amateur photographers. All entries receive free admission to the festival and every entry is entered to win prizes. First-place winners of each youth division will receive a digital camera. Adult winners will receive a Walmart gift card. Contestants need to submit an 8×10 photo of a person, place or thing with a completed entry form and a $5 entry fee.

    Submissions can be dropped off at the Scottsboro Board of Education, Jackson County Board of Education or the cabin in King Caldwell Park between 9-11 a.m. the morning of the festival.

    Proceeds from Art Sunday make it possible for the club to sponsor many community projects and educational endeavors including performances by the world-renowned Alabama Ballet at Northeast Alabama Community College.

    Additional projects funded by the proceeds of Art Sunday include violin lessons for third graders, field trips to plays, ballets and symphonies, donations to the choral, art and drama departments and the Scottsboro Public Library.
