NWS Says At Least 27 Tornadoes In Chicago Area On July 15th
During the evening hours of July 15, a well-organized and long-lived complex of thunderstorms rolled across Iowa, Illinois and parts of Indiana. Widespread damaging winds of 60 to locally 100 mph were observed within the line, especially from eastern Iowa, northern Illinois, and central Illinois. In addition, at least 27 occurred in the NWS Chicago County Warning Area.
LPO Announces Conditional Commitment to IRG Erie to Build Pennsylvania Mechanical Plastics Recycling Facility that Will Help Lower Steelmaking Emissions
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office (LPO) today announced a conditional commitment for a loan guarantee of up to $182.6 million to IRG Erie, Inc. (IRG Erie) to finance the construction of a plastics recycling facility in Erie, Pennsylvania, and an injection system tower at a steel manufacturing facility in northwest Indiana. The new recycling facility will mechanically recycle polyethylene terephthalate (PET), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and polypropylene (PP) polymers, converting approximately 160,000 tons per year of post-consumer waste plastic into approximately 100,000 tons per year of recycled plastic materials that will be used to replace virgin plastics. The facility will also produce about 20,000 tons per year of CleanRed™ from residual plastic output.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky authorities are warning the community about credit card skimmers appearing in retail and grocery stores. In a post on social media, Elizabethtown Police said over the past few months, they've had three cases of skimmers being set up in retail stores at both self checkout and staffed checkout counters.
Elizabethtown woman dies in motorcycle crash on WK Parkway
An Elizabethtown woman has died in a motorcycle accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway. The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash Friday evening at approximately 8:15 in the westbound lanes of the parkway near the 43-mile marker. According to WEVV.com, a witness told police the driver lost control of the motorcycle, but it was unclear why.

Indiana Man Apprehended Following High-Speed Chase Through Construction Zone
On Friday night, a man from Indiana was caught after a high-speed pursuit in DeKalb and Noble counties, which resulted in a patrol car crash and several felony charges. At around 9:30 p.m., Dusty E. Dawkins, 43, was pursued by the Indiana State Police after allegedly driving without tail lights. The chase started when a trooper tried to stop him on SR327 near Warfield Street in Garrett. Dawkins chose to ignore the trooper, sped off south on SR327, and disregarded the “road closed” sign on CR56 due to ongoing construction.
