Massive solar farm planned for coal mine site in eastern Kentucky
A massive solar farm is in the works at the site of one of the largest coal mines in southern Appalachia. BrightNight, the developer behind the planned farm at the decades-old Starfire coal mine near Hazard, Kentucky, says the project could help reinvigorate a region where thousands of mining jobs have been lost. Construction on the first phases could begin as soon as 2026.

BROWNSTOWN – The 2024 Jackson County Fair got underway Sunday evening in Brownstown and continues today, Monday, July 22, through this Saturday, July 27. One of the initial events was choosing the Jackson County Fair Queen Court on Sunday evening. Carly Kaiser was selected as the 2024 Jackson County Fair Queen. Lily Stogdill was the first runner-up, and Camryn Thompson was the second runner-up. Erin Lee was bestowed the honor of Miss Congeniality.

In Kokomo, READI 2.0 funding will facilitate the expansion of University Park at Indiana University Kokomo, adding critical student housing and amenities to retain and attract top talent and support significant job creation plans in the region’s growing electric vehicle (EV) industry.
2 in hospital after shooting in New Albany
NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) - Two men are in the hospital after a shooting in New Albany Monday evening. Police said around 7:05 p.m. officers were called to the 1800 block of Culbertson Avenue where they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to UofL Hospital where his condition is unknown.
