The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Proposes Major Renovations

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess , located at 7575 E. Princess Drive in North Scottsdale , hopes to renovate its site to add more amenities, including several new rooms and eateries.

Owners of the hotel recently filed a request to the city of Scottsdale to update its master plan, which will be considered by the Scottsdale Planning Commission at the end of the month, according to Phoenix Business Journal . The request seeks to amend development standards, increase the number of hotel guest rooms, and add several new amenities, including a high-end Michael Mina Italian restaurant, indoor/outdoor coffee roasteries, a conference center, and a new ballroom on-site.

The hotel envisions the concept for the new restaurant to be an Italian farmhouse “re-envisioned in a modern way for the Arizona desert landscape.” Located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Cottage Terrace Lane and Princess Boulevard, the proposed development will be roughly 10,000 square feet with another 6,500 square feet of patio space. The indoor/outdoor coffee shop will be approximately 10,500 square feet, with most of the space eyed for a patio.

The new guest wing, on the other hand, would rise four stories on the southeast corner of Cottage Terrace Lane and Hacienda Way and will include a 155-unit guest wing with underground parking and 43 Sunset Villas/bungalows. The new addition will increase the hotel’s capacity and further push it towards being one of the best and biggest resorts in the area. With 750 rooms, the Princess currently ranks as one of the largest Phoenix-area Hotels & Resorts, trailing the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown and the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.
