Scottsdale Leadership, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering leadership skills and igniting positive change within the community, is celebrating the successful completion of a transformative project at UMOM New Day Centers.

The project, undertaken as part of the organization’s Project Lead It Forward, was dedicated to enhancing UMOM’s warehouses and inventory management system with state-of-the-art technology to better serve its clients, according to a press release. Collectively, all participants dedicated 1,100 hours to date starting in December 2023 to develop a sustainable approach for UMOM’s operations, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in serving those in need.

UMOM New Day Centers, the largest emergency shelter for homeless families in Arizona, operates across two locations: the main facility and an offsite 12,000-square-foot warehouse. As part of the project, Scottsdale Leadership’s team focused on improving the main facility’s Clothes Closet, a crucial resource for clients in need of clothing and essentials. The goal was to create a more uplifting and productive space while implementing a more efficient electronic inventory management system to help streamline operations.

Through collaborative efforts, the team successfully refurbished UMOM’s Clothes Closet, cleared and organized the offsite warehouse, and established a more efficient inventory tracking system. The project shows Scottsdale Leadership’s commitment to empowering leaders to make a meaningful impact within the community.

The UMOM project represents Scottsdale Leadership’s central approach in this year’s project across all Project Lead It Forward teams to address homelessness within the community. The organization advocates for the power of collaboration and leadership development to foster positive change.
