Students in Scottsdale Community College’s visual brand design class, a capstone course, partnered with the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce to reimagine six of the chamber’s event logos with the goal of supercharging social media engagement.

They presented their work in formal pitches to Chamber President/CEO Mark Stanton, Director of Programs and Events Stephanie Miller, Marketing & Communications Manager Mike Binder, and Executive Administrative Assistant Mayra Bennett, as well as SCC President Dr. Eric Leshinskie, Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Stephanie Polliard, and Dean of Instruction Dr. Edmond Lamperez.

Lead by Visual Communication Chair Peggy Deal and adjunct faculty Jennie Jerome, students Angie Hoch, Sarah Ferguson, Kat Haney and Rain Claymore made their formal pitches showcasing their logo concepts, marketing campaigns and social media strategies, according to a newsletter.

“We were blown away by the quality of the presentations and the levels of creativity they showed us,” Binder stated in the newsletter. “The future is very bright for these students and for this program.”

Hoch and Ferguson took top honors and will receive letters of recommendation from both the Scottsdale Chamber and SCC. All the students gained valuable insights and excellent material for their portfolios.
