Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) UVA Rowing Head Coach Wes Ng had made a familiar addition to his coaching staff. Helen (Tompkins) Samaniego was a star for the Cavaliers from 2006-10, during her senior year on the Varsity Eight for UVA, she helped win the first NCAA team championship in the rowing program’s history. She comes off the heels of another NCAA championship as Coach at Texas last season. When asked about her appointment to her alma mater, Samaniego said “The stars aligned for me to work for Wes [Ng] at Virginia.”

Varina-Enon bridge lane to close for six months
Drivers who take the Varina Enon Bridge on I-295 will have to navigate with a reduced number of lanes for the next six months.
