NDSU: Winter cereal crops provide forage for livestock, soil health benefits
The use of winter annual cereals to promote soil health properties and suppress annual weeds has become more of the normal for many farmers in U.S., says North Dakota State University Extension specialists. Winter cereals provide green, active-growing plants during the fall and early-winter periods and are the first to green up in the spring. Winter cereals extend the growing season of living plant roots in the soil – feeding the soil microbiome – while providing an armor for the soil.

Louis Jamernik V Named 2024-25 Hockey Captain at UND with Four Assistants
Louis Jamernik V, a fifth-year forward, has been appointed captain of the University of North Dakota hockey team for the 2024-25 season, as chosen by his teammates. Joining him as assistant captains are senior forwards Jake Schmaltz, Cameron Berg, Jackson Kunz, and junior defenseman Bennett Zmolek. Jamernik V has consistently performed well, participating in 135 out of 137 possible games and contributing significant points. This marks a collaborative leadership team, with Berg and Kunz also having standout offensive seasons last year.
