SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Traffic patterns at one of Scranton’s busiest intersections will change Tuesday morning as work continues on a new mural.

Lackawanna County Communications Director said they will be continuing to work on the massive mural being installed where Biden Street meets Jefferson Avenue and the President Biden Expressway.

Maureen McGuigan, Lackawanna County Director of Arts and Culture, said work will shift from the wall nearest the Radisson at Lackawanna Station, along the lanes that carry traffic out of the downtown, to the wall along the lanes that carries traffic from the expressway and South Scranton into the downtown.

A single lane to the University of Scranton will close Tuesday morning. McGuigan said the road will remain closed through September.

There is not yet a completion date for the mural and a related project to install decorative lighting under the railroad bridge that crosses the roadway.
