SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— It’s day two of the 100th Annual Solemn Novena at St. Ann’s Basilica in Scranton.

28/22 News stopped by today’s 11:45 a.m. mass and Novena service.

Hundreds attended the outdoor mass with friends, family, and even on their own. They prayed to Saint Ann, the mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus.

The theme of this year’s Novena: “Gratefulness to God for 100 years of blessings”.

“I just find it very peaceful and relaxing, it has brought me many blessings, and this year I have a couple people that are sick and suffering, and I’m coming to pray for them,” stated Eileen Krajewski of Throop.

The next mass and Novena will be held this evening at 5:30 p.m., and new this year, a mass in Spanish is held nightly at 7:30 p.m.

The annual novena continues through the feast day, next Friday July 26 in Scranton.
