SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A local draft day held today wasn’t about fielding a sports team, but filling out medical teams.

Commonwealth health hosted “Draft day 2024” at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton.

The event celebrated the first graduating seniors from Jersey College Nursing School in Teterboro, New Jersey.

These students were signed for RN positions after they graduate and pass their boards.

This six-semester program combines classroom learning and clinical experience, preparing students for successful nursing careers.

“Healthcare is all about people. We need people to take care of our patients. It’s really what we do and so to have the opportunity to have a top flight education institute partnering with us to develop that workforce, to develop the nurses who are going to take care of my generation and my parents generation as we age and we need the services, its one of the most important strategic developments that we could’ve done so I’m really proud to see it so successful already,” voiced Michael Curran, CEO of Regional and Moses Taylor Hospital Commonwealth Health.

Jersey College and Commonwealth Health established the nursing school at Moses Taylor campus more than two years ago.
