SEAFORD — Michael H. Vincent is seeking another term on Sussex County Council.

A Republican from Seaford, Mr. Vincent has served as the council’s District 1 representative since winning election in 2008.

“I want to continue working on supporting public safety, supporting our agriculture community, which is our number one industry, working with workforce housing projects, continue to support farmland preservation and open space purchases, all while keeping our taxes low and affordable,” Mr. Vincent said in a press release.

Mr. Vincent has served as council president for 14 years, after being vice president of the five-member governing body.

“Experience does matter on County Council, and I will use that experience to continue to operate our county efficiently and to keep our taxes low,” said Mr. Vincent. “I will continue to always be responsive to constituent issues and requests. I will also continue my support of the many civic groups and activities that provide support and recreation to our communities.”

Mr. Vincent is a former Seaford City Council member, as well as a past chief, past president and lifetime member of the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, and former president of the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association.

“I am a fourth-generation Sussex Countian and have lived in Sussex County my entire life,” Mr. Vincent said. “I believe in this county and love where we live. I have spent my entire life serving and giving back to my community.”

Council terms of Mr. Vincent, Cynthia Green (District 2) and Mark Schaeffer (District 3) expire this year.
