Fire and Rescue Calls: Fire responses near Philomath and around the state keep firefighters busy
Editor’s note: This log is based on information submitted to the media by Philomath Fire & Rescue:. • 11:25 a.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a roadside fire along Highway 34. The Oregon Department of Forestry and Philomath Fire and Rescue Chief Chancy Ferguson handled the call. A Philomath brush truck that had been dispatched was canceled en route.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the overwhelming favorite to win the conference, earning 21 of a possible 27 first-place votes. The Ducks received six first-place votes, with all but one of the remaining conference media members polled picking Oregon to be runners-up in the Big Ten.

Three people are dead after separate motorcycle crashes in Gresham, McMinnville and Clark County over the weekend, police reported. Gresham police responded to reports of a crash at Southeast 190th Drive and Cheldelin Road around 10:00 a.m. Saturday. They arrived to find a pickup truck and a motorcycle had collided.

Two people died in a three-car crash Sunday afternoon, July 21, about 10 miles east of Sandy after a teenage driver allegedly drifted into oncoming traffic. SPRAY — On July 13 the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of two missing juveniles from Spray, Oregon, at about 7:20 pm. It was reported the youth were on a camping trip in a forested area inside Morrow County. At the end of the camping trip, they told their parents over the phone that they would be returning home to Spray from Heppner.
