Delta Apparel Inc., which is the the company behind the popular beach-themed brand Salt Life, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

It's now attempting to sell several of its Florida stores. Nearly 100 employees across 16 locations could be without jobs by the end of August if a suitable buyer isn't found.

In these notices, Delta Apparel cited "financial and business difficulties" as the primary reason for seeking to sell Salt Life. The Georgia-based company filed for bankruptcy in Delaware on June 30— pointing to a lack of demand and shrinking profit margins as contributing factors.

The following Salt Life locations in Florida are at risk:

    • 410 Plaza Real, Boca Raton
    • 713A East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale
    • 240 South Third Street, Jacksonville
    • 128 Breakwater Court, Jupiter
    • 404 Duval Street, Key West
    • 2300 Grand Cypress Drive, Unit 852, Lutz
    • 5821 East 10th Avenue, Hialeah
    • I0562 Emerald Coast Parkway West, Miramar
    • 8001 S Orange Blossom Trail, Room 252, Orlando
    • 310 I PGA Blvd., P-237, Palm Beach Gardens
    • 421 SW 145 Terrace, Suite 4030, Pembroke Pines
    • 3405 Pier Street, Pompano Beach
    • 16 South Blvd. of the Presidents, Sarasota
    • 2700 State Road 16, Suite 713, St. Augustine
    • 10801 Corkscrew Road, Suite 164, Estero
    • 1100 Cornerstone Blvd., Suite 910, Daytona Beach

Delta Apparel will hold an auction for Salt Life on or before August 20, as indicated in filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The outcome of this auction will determine the future of the brand's Florida locations and their employees.
