Former Seattle Kraken forward Kailer Yamamoto has signed a one-year, two-way deal with Utah HC.

The 26-year-old spent the 2023-24 season with the Seattle Kraken, scoring eight goals and 16 points in 59 games. He signed a PTO with Utah and played in four pre-season games, recording three goals.

The former 2017 first-round pick played six seasons with the Edmonton Oilers before joining the Kraken. Those six years saw him set career highs of 20 goals and 41 points which came in the 2021-22 season.

The deal carries a league minimum AAV of $775,000 and $500,000 at the AHL level.

The Oilers traded the Spokane, Washington native to the Detroit Red Wings who then bought out his contract. After doing so the Kraken signed him to a one-year, $1.5M but once his contract finished the Kraken decided against tendering him a qualifying offer.

Yamamoto now has a great opportunity with Utah who are hoping to take a step and push for a playoff spot.
