The Seattle Kraken once had a 2-0 lead but gave up three unanswered goals to the St. Louis Blues, losing 3-2.

Jordan Eberle's first game as the captain of the Kraken didn't end the way he had hoped.

The Kraken outshot the Blues 32-25 but couldn't get past Binnington after taking a 2-0 lead. Philipp Grubauer stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced and would definitely like Phillip Broberg's goal back as he beat him on a shot he likely feels he should have saved.

The first period finished scoreless with the Kraken outshooting the Blues 11-6. Jordan Kyrou hit the post early but then went 14 minutes without a shot on goal. The Kraken were the better team in the first period, pushing the pace in transition and cycling the puck for extended periods of time.

Vince Dunn opened the scoring in the game 27 seconds in the second period and recorded the first goal of the 2024-25 season on a 2-on-1. His first shot was stopped but Dunn was the quickest to the rebound.

Shane Wright won an offensive zone faceoff and Eeli Tolvanen was able to redirect a Ryker Evans point shot, scoring two goals in 1:52 seconds.

On the Blues' first power play attempt of the game, Jordan Kyrou cut the Kraken's lead in half. Robert Thomas and Kyrou caught Jamie Oleksiak flat footed and Kyrou blew right past him before sliding the puck through Grubauer's legs. Broberg tied the immediately after Kyrou's goal, scoring his first as a Blue and the third of his career.

A turnover at the blue line by Oleksiak led to a Kyrou breakaway and he made no mistake once again, scoring his second of the game and giving the Blues a 3-2 lead. The Blues recorded three goals in a 1:55 span.

A wild second period was dominated by the Kraken in the first 10 minutes but dominated by the Blues in the next 10. The Kraken outshot the Blues 17-13 but were outscored 3-2.

The Kraken lost their pace and aggressiveness after the Blues scored their first goal and couldn't generate any offence in the third period, mustering just four shots on goal. The Kraken begin their season with a loss but will be back in action when they travel to the state of hockey to play the Minnesota Wild.
