Absolutely no doubt that Edgar Martinez would be an excellent batting coach going forward (way better than the disastrous batting coach team under Servais). But to instill a new controlled approach to batting takes time: a lot of time to un-learn bad over-swinging habits before a more effective style can be "muscle memory" learned. It wouldn't come to full fruition until well into next year, or even longer. So... The Mariners MUST find a way to keep Martinez active in a batting coach leadership role (preferably for several years to come).
