Don't forget, the Seattle Kraken - and all NHL teams, for that matter - will have a new road destination starting this October.
The league allowed all the physical assets of the Arizona Coyotes, though not their name and records, to relocate to Salt Lake City. That includes players, coaches, and front office personnel.
Through May 22, Kraken fans and anyone else can help decide the future name for the team by voting here among these 20 candidates.
Black Diamonds
Blast
Blizzard
Canyons
Caribou
Freeze
Frost
Fury
Glaciers

Question: Would NHL opponents play the Blast, Freeze or Frost, or would they drink them?

From the voting website : "Once the team name has been selected, SEG (Smith Entertainment Group) will work diligently to craft the team identity – logo, mascot, colors, and other branding elements – which will debut for the 2025-26 NHL season." For 2024-24, team sweaters will read "Utah."
THN columnist Rob Couch knows which four proposed names he WON'T be voting for. One he calls "bland," a second "doesn't represent the location," a third has "negative connotations," and a fourth is "weird."
Me, I think several of the names are weird. What's worse, several of them remind me of energy drinks.
The strangest part of this whole story is that the Arizona Coyotes aren't technically dead; they're in some weird NHL version of Limbo. Fortunately, we have our own THN columnist, Carol Schram, to take us behind the scenes of the franchise move.
She also speculates about that howling zombie left behind in the desert. Our headline question, "Will Kraken ever play again in Arizona?" is part of today's Kraken Reaction .
