It's Fourth of July weekend and there's plenty to take in after Thursday's fanfare, from Missy Elliott's verses to local artist Fantasy A's quest for a mattress.

Here are some things that will bust any and all cases of post-Independence Day boredom.

    Wednesday

🎻 With some help from symphonic collaborators, Beck goes orchestral at Chateau Ste. Michelle at 7pm. Tickets from $131.

    Thursday

🎇 Choose your own adventure for Fourth of July fireworks: We've got a roundup of choices , from Seafair's Fourth of July to celebrations farther afield.

👯 If explosions in the sky aren't your vibe, consider celebrating Independence Day the Overlook Hotel way — with a screening of Stanley Kubrick's Northwest-filmed horror classic "The Shining" at the Beacon. 7:30pm, $12.50.

    Friday

🎞️ Northwest icon Lily Gladstone ("Killers of the Flower Moon," "Under the Bridge") is back on our screens again, this time in Erica Tremblay's "Fancy Dance," which is playing at the Grand Illusion at 7:30pm, with tickets from $7. (Saturday and Sunday, too.)

🎸 Singer-songwriter Thao plays a free show of her signature smart indie rock at Westlake Park at 5:30pm as part of Downtown Summer Sounds 2024 .

    Saturday

🎤 Missy Elliott — the musical genius behind "Work It," "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" and an unceasingly upbeat Twitter presence — plays Climate Pledge Arena, with backup from Ciara and Busta Rhymes. Is it worth it? Yessssssss. Doors at 6pm, show at 7pm. Tickets from $44.

🎬 Follow along with Seattle rapper Fantasy A as he pursues the titular object in "Fantasy A Gets a Mattress," the locally made film named best narrative feature at the Seattle Black Film Festival.

    • The movie, described by the South Seattle Emerald as "a fever dream of a movie that understands the absurdity of what it means to be an artist in Seattle right now," screens at the Grand Illusion at 8:30pm . $11 general admission.

    Sunday

🏀 Catch your much-improved Seattle Storm as they take on the Chicago Sky — standout rookie Angel Reese's team — in what should be a fun match-up. 3pm tip-off, tickets from $25.
