Carson Wentz recalls how loud Seattle crowd was in home games

There are few bigger what-might-have-been stories in the modern NFL than Carson Wentz. Picked No. 2 overall in the 2016 draft class, Wentz had a promising rookie year, followed by a spectacular second season that ended prematurely after tearing his ACL.

Prior to the injury Wentz went 11-2 as a starter and wound up leading the league that year in QBR (78.6) and touchdown rate (7.5%). His Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl over Tom Brady's Patriots, albeit led by Nick Foles. Had he stayed healthy Wentz might well have been the frontrunner for MVP.

Sadly, after he went down with that injury Wentz has never been the same. He bottomed out his last season as a starter for Philly in 2020 when he led the league in both interceptions (15) and sacks taken (50). After that he got one more shot as a starter with the Colts the following season, but it didn't go well.

Since then Wentz has been only getting work as a backup, but there was a moment there when he looked like the next-big-thing in the NFL. As good as he was at his best, Wentz had a hell of a time playing against the Seahawks on the road. After backing up Matt Stafford with the Rams last year, Wentz is now on a one-year deal with the Chiefs playing behind Patrick Mahomes.
