    After

much anticipation (six years of it, to be exact) , the new Hoa Mai Park in Little Saigon is finally set to open.

Named for a yellow flower that blooms in early spring, the new park sports a colorful play area for the kids, entry artwork designed by
Kalina Chung (which draws inspiration from Vietnamese tube houses) , and plenty of community spaces between the available tables and open lawn.

The project originally blossomed in 2018 as a way to utilize a vacant space landbanked by Seattle Parks and Rec in 2013 and create more green spaces in urban areas.

To celebrate the new space at 1224 S. King St., Parks and Rec is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 27, 12:30-3 p.m. with music, food, activities, and a Lion dance performance by Mak Fai Kung Fu.
