7 players go on PUP list for Seattle Seahawks, including 3 starters

The Seattle Seahawks won't really begin their training camp until veterans get in the building next week. However, they are getting their ducks in a row as far as the 90-man offseason roster is concerned.

The team just announced that the following seven players have been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

- RT Abe Lucas

- LB Jerome Baker

- LB Tyrel Dodson

- CB Lance Boykin

- S Jerrick Reed II

- LB Drake Thomas

- NT Cameron Young

The most important name on this list is at the top. Lucas missed 11 games last season with chronic knee pain, which required him to undergo offseason surgery . With Lucas sidelined, Seattle's pass protection at right tackle became a raging dumpster fire. As a backup plan, the Seahawks brought back veteran tackle George Fant this offseason. He will project as the starter at that spot as long as Lucas is out.

The next-two players going on PUP may not sting quite as much as Lucas, but together it does represent a signficant problem if they may not be 100% recovered in time for Week 1 against the Broncos. Rookie linebacker Tyrice Knight will be thrust into the spotlight as long as those two projected starters are out. The others are all depth and special teams pieces and there's no cause for concern yet.

Seattle also placed the following handful of players on the non-football injury list:

- RG Anthony Bradford

- LB Easton Gibbs

- CB D.J. James

- CB Nehemiah Pritchett

- WR Dee Williams

With Bradford out we might get a chance to see what rookie Christian Haynes can do with the starting offensive line unit. However, 2023 undrafted free agent McClendon Curtis may be first in line to replace Bradford instead.
