The WHL's Everett Silvertips were proud to have two of their top skaters, Julius Miettinen and Kaden Hammell, participating in the Seattle Kraken's development camp this month.

Julius Miettinen, a 6'3 center from Helsinki, Finland, had a successful debut in the Western Hockey League this season with the Everett Silvertips, as one of their top scorers. His contributions helped Everett reach the second round of the WHL playoffs this season. Miettinen's achievements were noticed by the Seattle Kraken and picked him in the second round, 40th overall, in this year's NHL draft.

Miettinen's precise puck handling and laser focus generate quick passes and often result in numerous assists. He uses his height effectively around the crease, creating a distinctive defensive style that often bewilders opponents. Known for his intelligence and craftiness, he avoids confrontations on the ice.

Miettinen moves fast, and doesn't waste a moment on the ice. As seen here in his first goal in the opening night of the Silvertips 2023-2024 regular season.

And then there is Kaden Hammell, the 6'1 right handed defenseman from Langley, BC who was selected by the Kraken in the 5th round of the 2023 NHL draft. Named as an alternative captain for the 2023-2024 Silvertips season, Hammell ended the year with a total of 25 points, 5 goals and 20 assists.

Hammell's fiery personality is wildly different than that of his line mate, but pairs well the quieter Miettinen. They work in tandem and off each other's strengths which resulted in several goals for the Tips.

Hammell's swift, aggressive skating enables him to deftly maneuver past opponents to steal the puck. His playoff scoring impressed the Coachella Valley Firebirds, leading them to invite him for an amateur tryout.
