Want to train for an Environmental Job? EPA offering free Certification Program

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is launching a free pilot program this August to train residents near the Lower Duwamish Waterway Superfund site for careers in environmental cleanup, and here’s how YOU can get involved.

The Superfund Job Training Initiative (SuperJTI) may offer participants multiple certifications at no cost, preparing them for various roles in environmental remediation.

The program includes certifications in Hazardous Materials Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) 40-hour, OSHA-10 hour, CPR/First Aid, Basic Rigging and Qualified Signaler, Bluebeam Construction Software, Construction Quality Control, Fall Protection, and Work Readiness Skills Training.

How to Participate

To participate in the SuperJTI program, interested individuals must attend one of the 60-minute information sessions held at the Duwamish River Community Hub, located at 8600 14th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98108.

Sessions are scheduled on Tuesdays (July 30, August 6, and August 13) and Wednesdays (July 31, August 7, and August 14) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., or 5 p.m.

“This pilot program is an excellent opportunity for residents to gain valuable skills and certifications that can lead to long-term employment in the environmental sector,” said an EPA spokesperson.
