Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith missed the last two days of practice at training camp after hitting the turf during Tuesday's practice. Team beat reporters were told that Smith was dealing with a knee/hip issue, then yesterday head coach Mike Macdonald said he was "working through some stuff" and would undergo imaging .

Good news. According to a report by NFL insider Adam Schefter at ESPN, the imaging did not reveal any significant problem and Smith should not miss any time.

This should bring a sigh of relief for Seahawks fans who may have been concerned that Seattle might have to start the 2024 season with Sam Howell under center . Howell has plenty of arm talent but he also led the league last season in both interceptions and sacks taken. The team's third QB option P.J. Walker is no better in the turnover department.

By contrast Smith has done an exceptional job of taking care of the ball while staying aggressive since he ascended to become QB1 in the wake of the Russell Wilson trade. Smith has also grown a great deal when it comes to avoiding pressure and extending plays.

As long as key pieces like Geno Smith remain healthy and the new coaching staff lives up to expectations, the Seahawks should be a dangerous team come January.
