Where And When To See The Next Meteor Shower Near Los Angeles
Space: the final frontier… As Captain Spock would say. Outside our beloved planet, everything is in constant motion and change. Every now and then, we mere mortals—who can’t just hop on a spaceship and visit the International Space Station—get to witness some of these phenomena from firm ground. Whether you’re a space enthusiast or simply looking to plan a romantic date or an outdoor adventure, here’s the scoop on the upcoming meteor showers near Los Angeles. A meteor shower is a celestial event where numerous meteors are observed to radiate from a single point in the night sky. These meteors are caused by streams of cosmic debris called meteoroids entering Earth’s atmosphere at extremely high speeds. As they burn up upon entry, they create bright streaks of light known as shooting stars. Meteor showers occur at specific times of the year when Earth passes through the debris trails left by comets or, less frequently, asteroids. While the dates of significant meteor showers remain relatively consistent annually, their peak, or maximum activity, might vary by a day or two.

A 3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Up Los Angeles County
This past Sunday morning saw quite a shake up in South Pasadena as a 3.5 magnitude earthquake rattled the area. The U.S. Geological Survey reported about the most recent earthquake, and many described it as feeling like a sharp and short jolt. It occurred just before 1o am on Sunday while many residents were out running weekend errands or attending Sunday morning church services. The earthquake was centered about 2 and a half miles from South Pasadena, and it hit at a depth of about seven miles. There have been no reports of injuries or damage. Sunday’s earthquake comes after a series of earthquakes and aftershocks hit Southern California in January and February of this year. This cluster of seismic disruptions left many SoCal residents concerned that “the big one” was coming. However, geologists reported that it was normal to have aftershocks after the main event, and that there is no reason for panic. As we all know by now, earthquakes are quite normal for the area, and while we need to be alert and prepared, there’s no reason to be overly alarmed.

The Song ‘Hotel California’ Was Actually Inspired By The City Of Los Angeles
We’ve all been there. You’re just cruising along in your car and all of the sudden ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles comes on the radio or playlist and suddenly all the passengers in the car are belting it out at the top of their lungs. Most people can sing every single word without even trying. But few know that this iconic rock classic is actually inspired by Los Angeles. There has been so much speculation about the song’s true meaning. Some guess it’s based on an actual hotel with unusual guests. While others say it’s merely a metaphor. However, the Eagles have stated in many interviews that the song was inspired by the band driving into Los Angeles late one night. Multiple band members said they saw the glow of the lights of L.A. and felt the allure of following their Hollywood dreams. The song is meant to be a statement about the excess and self-indulgence in the United States. The band wanted to shine a light on how the American dream can sometimes turn dark. Sadly, the Eagles stated in many interviews that this was something they knew all about. A post shared by Eagles (@theeaglesbandfanpage)
