Over Half Of Gen Z Renters In SF Are Considered “Rent Burdened”
Skyrocketing rent prices is not a new conversation in major US cities, especially San Francisco. High cost of living is a frequent topic in the Bay Area, and study shows that many Gen Z renters are particularly affected. StreetEasy released a study on cities that have the most “rent burdened” Gen Z renters, and unsurprisingly SF made the list. The study defines “rent burdened” as when some spends 30% or more of their income on their housing costs. The study found that 63.5% of Gen Z renters in SF fall into that category. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban...
You Can Now Cruise On The Bay In Your Very Own Hot Tub
You might have seen some viral videos of Seattle’s popular hot tub boats featuring small groups enjoying a scenic day on the water. Well now the Bay Area is in on the fun with a new company that’s renting hot tub boats out for small cruises on the bay. Earlier this month, Bay Area Hot Tub Boat officially set sail, offering small electric boats with hot tubs to rent for short excursions on the bay. Guests can cruise what is essentially a combination of a small boat and hot tub while enjoying being on the water and taking in the scenery. The company is located in Alameda, with the boats launching from the Marina Village Yacht Harbor. The boats are electric and fit up to six people, and no boating license is required to operate the small vessel. The excursion is located in the Oakland and Alameda estuary, due to it’s typically calm waters that make it ideal for the small boat. A post shared by Bay Area Hot Tub Boat (@bayareahottubboat)

The first entertainment zone in California made its debut in SF for a special Oktoberfest celebration in September. The block party that featured two SF bars and allowed patrons to take their alcoholic beverages “to go” within the zone was largely hailed a success with roughly 10,000 people in attendance. Now, the next event for the entertainment zone is on the books, and this time it’s for Halloween. The city recently announced that a Halloween party, called Nightmare on Front Street, will take over the Entertainment zone to celebrate the spooky holiday. The party is scheduled for October 31, from...

According to NASA, the first...
The Best Photos From Fleet Week 2024
Every year Fleet Week delights San Franciscans with the array of plans zooming overhead. While the fog and clouds did cancel Saturday’s airshow, much to our disappointment, the clouds parted for Sunday to allow for the annual show. Aside from the iconic Blue Angels another crowd pleaser was the United 777, a commercial plane that takes part in the airshow. This weekend the air shows featured multiple planes, including the iconic Blue Angels, and lucky for us there are plenty of talented Sf photographers that captured some pretty amazing photos of the airshows this weekend. Check out some of our favorites below: A post shared by Marcus | Photographer (@marcus_aureliuz) The Blue Angels flying past the waterfront ferris wheel.

The “Comet Of The Century” Soared Over California This Weekend
This week has been an exciting time to look up at the sky in California; with the northern lights spotted dancing as far south as NorCal, and the Blue Angels roaring overhead. Now, we have a particularly exciting celestial event to add to the calendar, which is being hailed as the “comet of the Century.” The comet in question is Comet Tsuchinshan, and the reason why it’s started so much buzz is because it has the possibility to be the brightest comet passing by Earth in a century, according to the Farmer’s Almanac. But it warns that comets are unpredictable, so it’s unclear whether it really will be as spectacular as some stargazers are hoping. Peak viewing was this past Saturday, October 12th, 2024. NASA reports that the comet may remain visible by Monday, October 14th, between the star Arcturus and the planet Venus. By early November, the comet will no longer be visible. San Francisco photographer Sean Qiu (@flyhighdragon on Instagram) captured the comet’s trail above the Golden Gate Bridge this weekend:

Here’s How To See The Northern Lights in Northern California
When news broke last year that the northern lights could reach California in 2024, it seemed pretty unbelievable. That was until, May 2024 when the iconic northern lights were seen dancing across the skies over San Francisco. Now, it looks like another peak in activity is predicted, and NorCal might be treated to another light show this Thursday night, October 10, 2024. On October 9, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a level G4, or severe, storm watch for October 10 and 11. This means that the aurora could be visible in much of the northern part of the United States, and may reach as far south as Alabama and Northern California. There are many factors that can impact whether we will be able to see the Aurora including weather. So while it’s not certain that we will be able to see the northern lights in the Bay Area, it is a possibility. A post shared by Secret San Francisco (@secret_sanfrancisco)

The ship—called the USS Stewart—was discovered in the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary about 30 miles from the coast as part of an ongoing search for the lost ship. The ship was intentionally sunk in 1946 after serving in WWII. The ship was commissioned in 1920 and was on the front lines of WWII starting in 1941 in Manilla. By 1942 the ship had been damaged in combat leaving the crew with no...

Two San Francisco Restaurants Were Named Among The Top 50 In the Country
San Francisco restaurants regularly receive awards and land on prestigious lists. Now, two well-loved restaurants have yet again been mentioned among the best in the country. The New York Times recently released a list of their top 50 restaurants in the country, and SF’s Quince and Four Kings were featured. The SF restaurants were among 5 California restaurants to make the cut. Quince is not new to prestigious recognition, with three MICHELIN Stars on its resume. Four Kings has made a splash since opening earlier this year, and it looks like it’s here to stay. The three MICHELIN Star restaurant opened just over 20 years ago and has since become a staple in the SF fine dining scene. The restaurant is known for its seasonal menu sourced from local produce. The restaurant’s Gastronomy option is a ten-course event featuring their modern, elegant plates. On Thursdays and Fridays, patrons can select from a four-course menu for lunch, while the salon and bar offer a more relaxed dining environment with an a la carte menu or a four-course menu option.
