DA rules on Kansas high school baseball animal cruelty case
SEDGWICK COUNTY —In April, USD 262 Valley Center suspended the schools baseball season due to an investigation of alleged animal cruelty after a chicken was killed on the baseball field at the high school before a game, according to the Valley Center Department of Public Safety. A school employee contacted a school resource officer about the incident.

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident during a police chase just after 8:30p.m. Monday in Sedgwick County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Ford Econoline van driven by Derrick Easter, 42, Madison, North Carolina, was fleeing from Law Enforcement at the intersection of 11th and Meridian.
Jury convicts Wichita man in shooting death of teen
A Sedgwick County jury has returned a guilty verdict for a Wichita man who was charged in the shooting death of a teenager last year. The verdict was delivered Monday in the trial of 25-year-old Rico Brown on a charge of first degree murder. He was convicted in the July 3rd, 2023 death of 16-year-old Elrecus Nolan, Jr., who was found in a car that had rolled onto a curb at Mt. Vernon and Ellis.

BEL AIRE, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is in critical condition after nearly drowning in Bel Aire. Sedgwick County dispatch said one person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after reports of a drowning in the 4800 block of E 44th St. N around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One person is in critical condition after a house fire near Meridian and McArthur on Tuesday. Sedgwick County dispatch said the call came in around 5:45 of a fire in the 2100 block of W McArthur. When first responders arrived they found one person in critical condition and one other injured in the fire.
