Team Colorado Sweeps Kansas Schools in TBT
For the third straight night, Team Colorado knocked off an in-state favorite with an 84-81 victory over Mass Street in the Wichita Regional final of the TBT at Charles Koch Arena Wednesday night. The former Jayhawks trailed by 11 in the second quarter but hit all seven of their threes in the third quarter. Mass Street went ice cold in the Elam Ending and missed their last eight shots of the game on the way to defeat. Team Colorado advances in the $1 million winner-take-all tournament after beating K-State squad Purple Reign in the first round, stunning the AfterShocks of Wichita State alumni in the second round and then triumphing over Mass Street. Mass Street led 76-69 heading into the Elam Ending but was outscored 15-5 the rest of the way. Team Colorado advances into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Wichita hosting child care summit
The City of Wichita is partnering with local agencies in presenting a summit for businesses and family child care providers this weekend. The ICT Child Care Entrepreneurs Summit will provide education on the importance of childcare as a benefit for recruiting and retaining workers. In-home childcare providers will be introduced to free resources – from data gathering to funding opportunities to business development – which will allow them to position themselves as entrepreneurs.

WICHITA, Kan. -- The Wichita State baseball team has earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2023-2024 academic year. The award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year. It's the seventh straight year the Shockers have earned the honor.

ATLANTA, KS – A 3-year-old girl was resuscitated and taken to a Wichita hospital late Wednesday after she fell into a swimming pool. A little after 9 p.m., the Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept. was called to the 600 block of Locust in Atlanta for the report of an unresponsive person. It was quickly determined to be a call involving a child, not breathing, who required immediate medical attention.

KBI investigating fatal officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Salina
SALINA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday night in Salina, officials said. The Salina Police Department around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday requested that the KBI conduct an investigation into the shooting. Agents and the Crime Scene Response Team from the KBI responded to investigate the incident.
One-time Spring Hill elementary could open again as Catholic school
The now-vacant Hilltop Elementary School near Olathe may welcome students again as early as next year as a private school run by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. The Archdiocese intends to buy the 4.5-acre property at 16740 W. 175th St. and offer kindergarten through eighth grade education for up to 200 students there.
