SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — An Irish sports pub in Seekonk will soon close its doors after 11 years in business.

The Dublin Rose announced on social media Wednesday that it will shutter on Sept. 1, citing “future redevelopment plans.” Those plans include tearing down the Fall River Avenue restaurant and building a brand new Whole Foods Market in its place.

“We have cherished the opportunity to host countless gatherings, celebrations and unforgettable moments with our patrons over the years,” the post reads. “While it is difficult to say goodbye, we are immensely thankful for the friendships and memories created here.”

The restaurant is inviting everyone to join them for a “not-so-Irish goodbye” on Aug 23. The farewell party will feature live music by the MLC Band, which was the first to perform at the Dublin Rose when it first opened back in 2013.

It’s unclear whether the Dublin Rose is considering opening back up elsewhere.
