ND launches latest component of child care crisis response
North Dakota officials will highlight a new project today to boost childcare access for parents with nontraditional work hours. A local provider likes what the state's been doing to help facilities and families but hopes for more action. Health and Human Services leaders will appear at a child care facility in Fargo to discuss a pilot initiative, giving operators financial incentives to increase capacity for childcare slots outside the hours of 7:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

Search for Missing Fargo Man Ends Sadly
The search for 38-year-old Michael Annette, missing since July 2, concluded with the discovery of his body. Annette was last seen on July 2, and a large-scale search effort was launched involving multiple agencies including the White Earth Police Department, Becker County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

About one year ago, back in June of 2023, I reported that a Lincoln, North Dakota Convenience Store had added a self-checkout terminal. It was kind of a big deal at the time because it was the first of its kind in C-stores in the Capitol Region. Another one was added the Cenex on East Expressway and Main.
Two dead, six more injured after rollover crash in Stutsman County
STUTSMAN COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Two children are dead and six more people are hurt after a rollover crash Monday on Interstate 94 in Stutsman County. North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened seven miles west of Jamestown at 4:50 p.m. on Monday, July 15 when an SUV was traveling eastbound on I-94. They say the driver lost control after being passed by a semi-truck causing the SUV to leave the roadway, roll and come to rest on its side in standing water.

Below-Average to Near-Average Highs Next Few Days
MONDAY EVENING - TUESDAY: A much-welcomed break from the sizzling temperatures and high humidity has returned for today. In fact, temperatures across the region today have been a bit below average for this time of the year in the 70s to near 80. There have been just a few clouds, but plenty of sunshine. We are continuing to watch out for some wildfire haze aloft, but not much has impacted the area. The north-northwest breeze that we have had today will decrease towards sunset. Overnight, a few more clouds move through and bring just a slight chance of showers. By morning, the best chance for rain will be in southeastern ND. Morning temperatures will be in the 50s to near 60. Through the afternoon Tuesday we can expect a few passing clouds and an isolated shower or two. Highs will warm into the 70s to near 80.

Tornado in Richland County rated as an EF-1
RICHALND COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The National Weather Service says a tornado that touched down on Saturday, July 13, is rated as an EF-1. The damage survey says the tornado touched down in a rural area north of Barney and Mooreton, North Dakota. No structures were damaged. The storm traveled over cropland and gravel roads and the National Weather Service says a tree was snapped north of Mooreton.
