Bismarck Bubble Bursts: Insane Area Rainfall Totals
The floodgates opened up for much of the Capital Region of North Dakota yesterday right during afternoon rush time. Pounding rain hit the Bismarck Mandan area at about 4:45 pm on Tuesday, August 14 dropping several inches of rain in a very short time. Especially north of I-94. This caused some streets to look like rushing rivers and parking lots to look like lakes. A Flood Warning was issued.
City of Minot, ND Landfill Expanding
The City of Minot landfill is planning on expanding. Upon receiving authorization from the Minot City Council, the Minot Landfill started building another cell. The cell which is a seven-acre stretch of land will run south and is attached to the other dumping sites in the landfill, which is the area where Minot residents will be able to dump their garbage. Despite the landfill expanding, city officials say trash collection has not increased.
DOE adds $700 million to North Dakota, Montana electrical energy project
(The Center Square) – The Department of Energy is adding $700 million to a $3.6 billion project that will boost the electrical energy supply for North Dakota and Montana. The funding from DOE’s Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program will go toward a 3,000-megawatt High-Voltage Direct Current Voltage Source Converter transmission line from Center, N.D., to Colstrip, Mont., according to North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.

UND new faculty, administrators to take tour of North Dakota
(GRAND FORKS) – The University of North Dakota’s new faculty and administrators will take part in their bus tour later this month. According to information from the University of North Dakota, the tour of the state will take place August 19 through 21. The route will include stops in Carrington, Cooperstown, Underwood, Bismarck/Mandan, Hebron, Medora, Jamestown and Fargo.
