    Coastal Region Rattled: 4.6 Earthquake Reported

    Residents in Port McNeill, Canada were the recipients of a magnitude 4.6 earthquake. Coastal regions along Canada and some of Washington State may have felt some mild shaking depending on their location. Few reported feeling the earthquake due to the location and the fact that it was off the coast. At present, only four reports were made. Seismologists are reviewing the details. For most, it was a mild shaking sensation that gave notice of the fact that an earthquake had occurred.

    The earthquake was occurred in what is considered to be the Cascadia Subduction Zone. The Cascadia Subduction Zone includes Vancouver BC, Victoria BC, Seattle Washington, and Portland Oregon.

    It is considered to be a strong magnitude earthquake at 4.6 Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale (MMI). It occurred in the North Pacific Ocean appoximately 84 miles off the coast of Canada at 7:12 am local time. No damages have been reported.
